She also said that some parents had found the guide useful while they were shopping to find outfits that were both elegant and appropriate.
Even so, there are some people who suggest that the guidelines are spreading the wrong message and body shaming young women.
Body image and media expert Robyn Goodman is one of these critics. Robyn – of the University of Florida – said that telling girls that they can or can’t wear something because of their body is giving them a damaging message about the “right” and “wrong” kinds of body to have.
Some students expressed upset about the rules and have discussed the idea of boycotting the prom, but officials believe that most of the students will turn up and attend prom.
